Beaver baseball fans will see several new faces on the field playing for Washburn District High School this season. WDHS baseball graduated their pitcher and catcher duo Steve Pesut and Adam Thompson but gained four new athletes to the roster.
The 2008 Beaver lineup includes Matt Howe (third base), Justin Howe (short stop), Sebastian Viola (second base), Travis Conley (first base), Tyler Farley (catcher), Ethan Doody (centerfield), Trevor Pendexter (leftfield) and Salvatore Viola (rightfield). M. Howe, J. Howe, Sebastian Viola and Doody will take turns on the pitching mound.
“This will be a rebuilding year,” commented head coach Ben Goodwin about his new role call.
However, pre-season practices have shown marked improvement. “Things have gone well,” said Goodwin. “I’ve been stressing mechanics and fundamentals, and trying to get rid of mental errors out on the field.”
