At Millinocket on Monday, the Houlton Lady Shires edged Stearns, 7-6 behind RBI-singles by Abby Kinens and Makala Folsom and Megan Hannigan’s RBI-double in the fourth for a 4-1 lead. But, Stearns tied the game in the fifth, 5-all and again in the bottom of the sixth, coming up short in the seventh, as the Lady Shires knocked in two runs to their one.
Houlton’s Taylor Bailey struck out 10 and walked four for the winners.
Last Friday in Dyer Brook, the Woodland Dragons defeated the hosts, 9-5.

Myah Smallwood hit a double and two singles while Bailey McNally finished with a pair of singles.
At Eastport last Friday, the East Grand girls defeated Shead, 10-5, as Kaitlyn Beaudoin pitched a complete game. She helped her own cause with two singles and an RBI. Allie McEwen singled twice and knocked in a run.
In baseball last Friday, Katahdin shut out visiting Bangor Christian, 10-0.
Brandon Robinson threw a two-hit shutout, with 11 strikeouts and no walks. Brady McNally singled three times, while Mook McGraw doubled and singled to plate three runs. Jesse McNally ripped a two-run homer and singled.
The East Grand Vikings were defeated by host Shead, 28-1 last Friday.
Shead used a 14-run first inning to break the game wide open.

On Thursday, the Houlton Shiretowners defeated host Hodgdon, 16-9.
Hunter Hanning delivered a three-run homer in the first, singled and drove in four runs, while Tanner Caron smacked a two-run double and Cody Briggs doubled and singled. For Hodgdon, Nick Lunn cut Houlton’s lead in half in the bottom of the third with a two-run homer, 8-4. Erik Ryan doubled and singled for two RBIs, while Ryan Wellington produced a double and single to bring in a run.
On the softball field last Thursday, the visiting Houlton Lady Shires took a third-inning 6-1 lead and blew up into a 15-3 advantage en route to a 22-3 victory.

For Hodgdon, Maya Gardiner banged a solo homer in the fourth and a run-scoring double.
The Hodgdon Hawks overpowered visiting East Grand, 18-6, last Wednesday.
The Hawks broke the game open in the fourth with 10 runs. Drew Gough singled and doubled to knock in three runs, while Connor Murphy doubled and singled to plate a run. Chris Wallace and Matt Harmon each belted two-run singles.
For East Grand, Billy Holmes singled in three runs.
In girls action last Wednesday in Hodgdon, the East Grand Lady Vikings pulled out a 4-1 win.
Kaitlyn Beaudoin gave up one run, while allowing one hit and striking out 12. Sister Shaunna provided two singles, while Jane Cousins hit two base hits and drove in two runs.
Hodgdon’s Haley Quint reached Beaudoin for a single. The Lady Hawks lone run came in the bottom of the fourth.
Last Tuesday, the Southern Aroostook Warriors overpowered visiting Greater Houlton Christian Academy in an abbreviated five-inning game, 10-0.
The Warriors scored four runs in the first, two in the second and four more in the third as the mercy rule was invoked.
Anthony Diaferio, Trent Cullinan (RBI) and Jesse Boulier all singled twice, while Cody Robinson doubled and drove in three runs. Chris Casey hit a two-run double and Joe Frazier doubled to knock in a run.
For the Eagles, Ryan Campbell and Jordan Cummings each singled.

Caribou’s Emily Staples three-hit Houlton, striking out 12. Reaching Staples were Marina Cameron with two singles and Makala Folsom with a base hit. Cameron scored Houlton’s lone run in the bottom of the seventh.
The Houlton Shiretowners came from behind to overtake visiting Caribou, 10-9 last Tuesday at Community Park.
The Vikings led 7-6 after the fifth and added two runs in the top of the seventh, but the Shires battled back knocking in four runs to take the win in the bottom of the frame.
Hunter Hanning tied the game with a two-out run-scoring double and later scored the winning run on a Caribou fielding error. Parker Sanderson had two doubles and drove in a run, while Hanning finished with two doubles.
