Small town pride at its best

To the editor:
A couple of weeks ago, we gave a shout-out from the town office that we wanted to do the “Annual Beautify Our Town Day” in early May so our community will look great for Memorial Day. We are so grateful that many of you responded to our call for help in cleaning the town!
The Boards of Select people and I extend a big thank you to everyone in the towns of Smyrna and Merrill for your dedication to keeping our communities looking so nice. Thanks to all who picked litter from the sides of the roads, thank you to those wonderful citizens who have adopted a road or section of a road to keep clean throughout the summer. Thank you to the ladies, who washed, sewed and pressed the flags and to everyone who will help in putting the roadside flags on the poles. A special thanks to everyone who went around the roads and picked up the bags of litter to be disposed of at the transfer station. A very special thank you to the children that participated and to your parents for instilling community service values in you!
We are so fortunate to live in our small community where we have so many community-oriented citizens.

town manager
