ORIENT — The Orient Food Pantry is selling tickets to raffle off a quilt.
The quilt is named “Hemming House Four Patch” and is a full queen size. It was made by Orient Food Pantry co-chair Barb Sharpe.
“I made the quilt to raise money for the food pantry. The money that we raise will go towards the food pantry and any of the needs that may come up for it,” said Sharpe.Contributed photograph

Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. They can be purchased by calling Alicia Silkey at the Orient Town Office at (207) 448-7729. Tickets will also be on sale at a variety of events. On May 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. tickets will be sold at Orient Garden’s Greenhouse. A bake sale will take place at Karen’s Variety on Route 1 in Danforth on June 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Orient Food Pantry is also planning a breakfast and a harvest supper.
The Orient Food Pantry gets food from Catholic charities, Good Shepherd and the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture). They have to purchase some food themselves, so that’s the purpose of their fundraisers. Members of the Food Pantry are chair-person Dale Foley, Sue Lamach, Donna Foley, Ieleen Hawthorne, Mike and Cheryl Dicentes, Heather Zakupowski and Alicia Silkey.
The raffle drawing will take place at the Orient Food Pantry on Nov. 4 at 2 p.m.. The winner need not be present to win.
