Shaun Beaudoin returns for his third year as head coach of the East Grand Lady Vikings, and Athletic Director Chris Young said, “That consistency has helped grow the team.”
A year ago, the East Grand Lady Vikings went 5-5 and lost their first round Class D Eastern Maine playoff game to Southern Aroostook, 9-2.
“Depth and solid hitting has made the Lady Vikings score runs on a regular basis,” said Young. “If Kaitlyn Beaudoin and the defense do their jobs, the team should be competitive with everyone they play.”
Junior Beaudoin returns to the circle for East Grand, while filling out the infield are veteran sophomores Jenny Armstrong, second base; Elisha Farley, shortstop and Shaunna Beaudoin, catcher and freshman Shelby Lindsey will play centerfield.
Other returning players vying for playing time are sophomore outfielders Cassi Parent and Felicia Cowger. Joining the team this season are freshman Theresa Cousins and eighth-graders Allie McEwen, Lauren Morse and Chelsea Winiarski.
With the loss of two players from last year’s squad, the East Grand girls are looking to improve on last year’s record and is working for a home playoff game at season’s end.
The Lady Vikings are seventh in the latest Heal Point standings with a 3-2 record, with wins over Woodland, Washburn and Hodgdon. Their only losses thus far is to Jonesport-Beals, which is sixthin the seedings and third-ranked Central Aroostook.
