Cats are mysterious creatures. They are independent and usually treat us as if we are put on this earth to serve them. Would we have it any other way? Probably not. Cat lovers are just that, they love their nature and independence.

Catladycrafts.com gives us the following interesting cat information:
    • How fast can a cat run? (They can sprint at 31 mph!)
    • How many whiskers does a cat have? (24) No, I didn’t count them!
    • How many teeth does a cat have? (30)
    • What is the normal body temperature of a cat? (102 degrees F)
    • What is a cat’’ average life expectancy? (16 years) Well-treated cats can live to be 20 years old or more!
    • How many homeless pets are killed each year? (Over 15 million!) – PLEASE SPAY or NEUTER your pets!
    • How high can a cat jump? (5 times as high as they are tall!)
    • What is the major cause of death for cats? (Feline Leukemia Virus – get your cat the FLV vaccine!)
    • Everyone knows that cats like to nap, but how many hours a day do they sleep? (16!)
    • When they’re not sleeping or eating, cats are usually grooming themselves. How many hours a day does a cat spend grooming? (Cats spend 30 percent of their waking hours looking pretty!)
The Paws for the Cause Walk may involve walking dogs, but it benefits our cats, too, so cat lovers, come and join us for a 2-mile walk June 7 to benefit all of the homeless animals at the Central Aroostook Humane Society.
We will also be participating in the Presque Isle City Wide Yard Sale June 7.
If you have any items that you would like to donate to help us raise money, please drop them off at the shelter. Our address is 26 Cross St. Just look for our awesome new sign!!
    Hope to see you soon.
If you are looking for a friend for life, please visit the Central Aroostook Humane Society. We have many wonderful animals available for adoption. Some have been waiting for a loving home for a long time.
If you can’t stop by, just give us a call at 764-3441. We are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Please have your pets spayed or neutered.

SISTERS DONATE TO SHELTER – Tori Koch, 8, and her sister Carsyn Koch, 12, recently visited the Central Aroostook Humane Society, thanks to their grammy, Dorilla Bagley, who provided transportation. While at the shelter, the sisters crocheted cat beds, blankets for dogs and newspapers.
