On Monday, the East Grand Lady Vikings overpowered visiting Hodgdon, 16-4.
Jane Cousins led East Grand with a triple, two singles for two RBIs, while Theresa Cousins stroked three singles and knocked in a run for the winners. Kathryn Beaudoin singled twice and brought in two runs for the 3-1 Lady Vikings.
For Hodgdon, 0-3, MacKenzie York belted two singles, while Amanda Ryan tripled and Julia Neher doubled.
Also on Monday in Dyer Brook, the visiting Limestone/MSSM Lady Eagles, 4-0, overtook Southern Aroostook, 26-12.
Jillian Diaferio doubled, singled three times and drove in two runs for winless SACS. Jessica Charest racked up three singles for two RBIs and Desirae Dubois doubled, singled and brought in three runs. SAFE — Hodgdon catcher Josh Hudson deflects the ball, as GHCA runner Adam Little slides safely into home.
Limestone/MSSM used a 16-run second inning to break the game open. They had nine hits with five errors, while SACS had 12 hits and six errors.

On Saturday, the Houlton softball team was swept by visiting Fort Kent in a doubleheader, 14-3 and 8-7.
In the opener, Fort Kent used an 11-hit attack to overtake their hosts. Megan Hannigan had two singles and drove in a run, while Abby Kinens singled and scored twice for the Lady Shires, who are 0-4 on the season.
In game two, the Fort Kent Warriors overcame a 7-4 deficit in the sixth, scoring four runs to take the win.
Hannigan led Houlton hitters with three singles and one RBI, while Taylor Bailey drove in two runs with a triple and Alaina Stewart singled twice for two RBIs.
In the second game, Houlton trailed 4-3 in the fourth, but scored two runs in the fifth and sixth for a 7-4 lead before Fort Kent struck for the winning runs in the bottom of the sixth.
In Calais on Saturday, the Lady Hawks lost both ends of a doubleheader, 26-3 and 25-1. Both Blue Devil pitchers, Rachel Cundiff and Paige Gillespie fire one-hitters for the winners.

In the opener, Cundiff struck out 12 and was backed by a 19-hit assault. The only hit for Hodgdon was Maya Strong’s base hit.
In the next game, Gillespie had nine strikeouts and was backed by an 18-hit attack. Karissa Harris had Hodgdon’s only hit, which was a single.
The Lady Hawks are 0-2, while Calais is 5-0.
At Stacyville Saturday, the Katahdin boys took an 18-7 win over Schenck.
The Cougars outhit their opponents, 15-3 and scored in each inning. Mook McGraw led Katahdin’s offense with a triple and double for three RBIs, while Sal Cloukey doubled and singled to drive in two runs and Cody Cunningham doubled twice to bring in two runs.
The Cougars are 3-0 on the year.
Saturday at Jonesport-Beals, the East Grand boys took a 25-12 loss.
The Royals racked up 29 hits to overpower the Vikings, who were led by Billy Holmes with two singles and two RBIs.
At Calais on Saturday, the Hodgdon boys were swept 13-4 and 11-0 in a doubleheader.
In the first game, Nick Lunn poked a two-run homer, while Josh Hudson added a run-scoring double for the Hawks.
In the second game, Lunn doubled for the 1-2 Hawks.
At Community Park on Saturday, the Houlton Shiretowners swept visiting Fort Kent, 6-3 and 12-7.
In the opener, Ian Gervais and Ben Flewelling each doubled, singled and drove in a run for the 2-2 Shires. Gervais had 17 strikeouts, pitching a complete-game win.
In the second game, Hunter Hanning singled twice and doubled to lead Houlton’s offense. Cody Briggs was a perfect 4-for-4 from the plate with four singles and three RBIs. Jimmy Fitzpatrick doubled and singled to drive in a run for the winners.
On Friday, the Greater Houlton Christian Academy Eagles were defeated 14-4 by Shead in Eastport.
Ethan Holmes led 0-2 GHCA with a three-run triple in the third. On Thursday, the Hodgdon Hawks topped visiting GHCA, 18-7 behind the Hawks’ Ryan Wellington, who tripled, doubled twice and drove in two runs. Jake Tidd ripped two doubles, while Tyler Sherman tripled and singled. Drew Gough singled twice to bring in a run, as well.
For GHCA, Ryan Campbell tripled and singled to knock in a run, while Aaron Holmes hit two singles for two RBIs and Josh Winslow connected for a two-run single.
In Stacyville, the Cougars overpowered visiting Southern Aroostook, 14-1 behind Cunningham’s abbreviated four-hitter. He struck out 11 batters and walked two. Cunningham backed his own cause with a double and single.
Brandon Robinson doubled and singled to drive in three runs, while Kolby Gallagher singled three times for two RBIs. McGraw chipped in with a double and single to bring in two runs.
For SACS, Pat Goodall singled twice and drove in a run in the top of the fifth.
The East Grand Vikings took a win from visiting Washburn, 12-4 last Friday behind freshman righty Logan Crone, who recorded 12 strikeouts in his high school debut. Holmes and Neil Noble backed the effort each with two-run singles. D.J. Schurmann and Nick Gray each singled twice for the winners.

On the softball field, the Lady Vikings picked up a 15-6 win over Washburn.
Shaunna Beaudoin smacked a two-run double in a seven-run second inning to give the Lady Vikes a 7-3 lead. She finished with a triple, double, two singles and four RBIs. Elisha Farley hit four singles to drive in two runs, while Allie McEwen doubled and singled twice for two RBIs.
On Wednesday, the Central Aroostook Lady Panthers opened their season with a 15-7 win over host Southern Aroostook in Dyer Brook.
Vicki McIntyre paced CAHS with two singles and two RBIs. Michaela King also had two singles and an RBI. Kristen Long picked up the win with four strikeouts, eight walks and allowing seven runs, which included just two earned runs. She backed her own cause with a pair of singles for an RBI.
For SACS, Jasmine Rockwell collected three singles and drove in two runs, while Olivia Raymond tripled and singled to bring in two more runs.
At Dover-Foxcroft on Thursday, the Lady Shires held an 8-4 lead after the fifth but couldn’t hang on as Foxcroft Academy scored seven runs in the sixth for an 11-8 victory.
Kinens and Hannigan again paced Houlton with two singles and an RBI each.
On the baseball diamond, the Shiretowners also were defeated by host Foxcroft Academy, 10-3.
Gervais and Briggs led Houlton’s offense each with a double and single. Briggs also knocked in a run for Houlton.
