Aroostook Times
Ludlow — Wm. Hemore has a flock of 65 hens that are record-breakers for laying. During the month of March, they produced 1,126 eggs.
Housing — John G. Chadwick has recently finished drawing plans for several new houses that will be built this season. One set for Warren Skillings, North Street, also for Alphonse Chamberlain who will build on the so-called Kidder lot, Calais Road.
Local — The so-called “Glass” house property has been purchased by A.W. Madigan and he is now having the buildings destroyed, which will add very much to the looks of that part of the town.

Notes of interest — When making housedresses, buy three yards of extra material and make two aprons to match the dress. These will look better and be less conspicuous than aprons of a different material and you will feel more dressed up when wearing them.
North Road — George MacNair and a crew of carpenters are building a house for Charles McDonald at his farm which adjoins Byron Carson’s farm on the Ridge Road. Mr. McDonald and family expect to move into the house this spring.
Houlton — Alex Cumming has sold his home on the North Road to John H. Fitzpatrick and plans to return to his former residence on Elm Street. Mr. Fitzpatrick will conduct a farm on the property.

Plane crash — A Weston pilot who escaped serious injury when his plane crashed early Monday returned to work. Dale O. Kitchen, 36, who keeps his plane on a hill behind his home was flying to the Orient post office to purchase stamps when the tail wheels of his light craft caught in telephone wires as he came in for a landing.
Twins — Mr. and Mrs. Armand Blanchette are receiving congratulations of the birth of twin daughters, Patricia Anne and Barbara Anne, March 29 at the Madigan Memorial Hospital.
Golf pro — Sam Dixon, golf pro at the Houlton Community Golf Club has been enjoying his winter in Sarasota, Florida. Dixon will return north in the middle of May.

Delegates — Representatives from the junior class of Houlton High School have been selected by the faculty to attend Dirigo Girls and Boys State. They are Fawn Dunphy, Liesl McDonnell, Kate McLaughlin, Debra Schools, Lisa Astle, Heidi Britton, Michael Fitzpatrick, Lee Kilpatrick, Terry Cummings, Robert Shaw, Garrett Brown and Andrew Hawkes. Alternates, Tracy Powers, Jennifer Prince and Jon Perry.
Assets — The Houlton Federal Credit Union began in 1962 and has surpassed the $3 million mark in assets according to Francis Grant who has been re-elected president.
Littleton — The 25th annual Littleton PTC Fair will select a king and queen from the following candidates: Angela Bartlett and Paul Hubert; Rachael Golding and Aaron Munn; and Paulette Duff and Robert Nason
CHAMBER ANNIVERSARY — The Houlton Chamber of Commerce honored its Past Presidents at the annual meeting and banquet. The theme of the meeting was the Chamber’s 75th Anniversary. In attendance were past presidents, left to right: Willard Putnam, 1969; Jack Ketch 1968; Andrew Mooers, 1984, Walter Burlock, 1975; Robert Ivey, 1966; Gary Adams, 1972; James Sennett, 1983; Albert Putnam, 1977; Mildred McIntosh, 1976; Walter Peabody, 1973; Owen Hannigan, 1957 and Robert Nagle, 1980. Also attending, but not pictured were Alan Clark, 1948 and Gerald Gardner, 1962.
