Scrambling to organize a shoebox of receipts and trying to establish a better system for keeping track of business income and expenses? Does anyone have a side business, but is unsure how to report income and deduct business expenses?
Women, Work & Community’s Easy Steps for Business Tax Prep workshop is designed for individuals with business income to report, whether one plans to do his/her own taxes or work with a professional tax preparer. Learn about what’s needed to prepare taxes, get the tools for organizing financial records, and feel confident and ready for tax season.
The workshop will be held at three locations around Aroostook to ensure that all small business owners and entrepreneurs have the chance to attend. Monday, April 4 at the University of Maine at Fort Kent; Tuesday, April 5 at the Houlton Higher Education Center or Wednesday, April 6 at Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle. Each class runs from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and covers the issues needed to know how to get started successfully and manage small business taxes.
Erica Quin-Easter, microenterprise coordinator for Women, Work, and Community in Aroostook County and the trainer for the class, notes that “recordkeeping for your business does not need to be a mystery or a mess. This workshop will help you get organized and stay on top of your business finances, at tax time and all the time.”
Easy Steps for Business Tax Prep is open to women, men, and all entrepreneurs who have business income to report or are considering starting a business. Pre-registration is required, and there is no fee for the training. Funded in part through a grant award with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
