An annual rite of spring has arrived once again as local municipalities gear up for town meeting time. The following is a list of local municipalities that will be holding town meetings in the upcoming months.
Amity — March 26, 9 a.m. There is one seat open on the town’s Board of Selectmen. Candidates for the position may express their interest at the town meeting.
Danforth — Saturday, May 21 at 10 a.m. at the Danforth Town Hall. Voting will take place on Friday, May 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are two seats open on the Board of Selectmen — a one-year term currently held by Terry Barnes and a two-year term currently held by Lorrie Shay. Barnes has returned his nomination papers and is seeking re-election. Shay has not yet returned nomination papers for her seat. Also to be voted on is one open seat on the SAD 14 school board. The seat is currently held by Loree Ross.
Dyer Brook — Information on Dyer Brook could not be obtained by presstime.
Island Falls —Saturday, March 26, 2 p.m. at the town office. Voting takes place Friday, March 25 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the town office. There are two seats up for grabs on the Board of Selectmen. One seat is currently head by Brady Hatch, who is running again unopposed. Paige Coville is also running for a vacant seat. Following the meeting, the Island Falls Historical Society will hold a bean and hot dog supper
Littleton — Monday, March 21, 7 p.m. at the Meduxnekeag Snowmobile Club on the Wiley Road. There are two seats open on the town’s Board of Selectmen with incumbents Robert Bartlett and Barry Campbell both seeking re-election. Laurie Bartlett is also running unopposed for the SAD 29 school board.
Linneus — Monday, May 2, 7:30 p.m. at the gymnasium near the town’s Fire Department. The polls open at 2 p.m. On the ballot is one seat on the Board of Selectmen. Harland Henderson currently holds the seat, but has not yet returned nomination papers. There are no other candidates as of press time. There is one seat open on the SAD 70 school board. Estela Lane currently holds that seat and is running for re-election.
Ludlow — Monday, April 25, 7 p.m. at the town office. There is one seat open on the Board of Selectmen with incumbent Virginia McCain running unopposed. There are two candidates for one seat on the SAD 70 school board with incumbent Melissa Ivey facing challenger David Stevens.
Monticello —Monday, March 21, 7 p.m. at the town office. Voting takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There are two, three-year seats available on the Board of Selectmen, with four candidates — incumbents David Pierce and Terrance Wade, and challengers Jimmy Burpee and Eric Nelson. Also there is also one vacant, one-year seat on the board being sought by Burpee and James Burlock. For the SAD 29 school board, there are two candidates for one position. Incumbent Sandra Wilkins faces challenger Amy Corey.
New Limerick — Monday, March 28, 7 p.m. at the town office. Voting takes place from 2-6 p.m. at the town office. There is one three-year term available on the Board of Selectmen, with incumbent Mark Stile running unopposed. There is one seat open on the SAD 70 school board. Lauren Asselin, who is not running for re-election, currently holds that position. There are no candidates for this position, so a write-in will determine the winner.
Oakfield — Monday, March 21, 7 p.m. at the Oakfield Community Center. One position is open on the Board of Selectmen with two candidates — Cathy Briggs and Anthony White.
Patten — Tuesday, March 22, 7 p.m. at the Patten Fire House. There is one position open for the Board of Selectmen with two candidates — Richard Schmidt III and Rebecca Phillips. There is one seat open on the SAD 25 school board, with one candidate — Leslie Gardner.
Sherman — Monday, March 21, 7:30 p.m. at town office. One position is open for a three-year-term on the Board of Selectmen. Three candidates are running. Franklin Vance, John Heath and Wade O’Roak. One position is open for a two-year term with two candidates — Rose Marie Bragdon and Robert M. Heath. There is one candidate for an open one-year term — Samuel Sides. There are no candidates for the SAD 25 school board seat.
Stacyville — Monday, March 21, 7 p.m. at the V.F. W. Hall. There is one position open on the Board of Selectmen. Running unopposed is Leon Robertson. There is one seat open on the SAD 25 school board with one candidate — Constance Theriault.
Weston — The town meeting date has not yet been determined.
