HONORED — Friends of First Book were recently honored at a  luncheon at  the Crow’s Nest Event Center in Presque Isle. This luncheon was held in conjunction with a Dec. 10 Aroostook Training and Education Coalition professional development conference. Eleven individuals were honored to celebrate the 10th anniversary of First Book in Aroostook County. Since 2001, more than 10,000 books have been distributed to children and their families throughout Aroostook County through the efforts of these honorees, their organizations, and many others not named here. Honorees are, from left to right, front, Stacy Cyr from Madawaska Family Literacy; Sherri Wilcox representing the Presque Isle Kiwanas and Joyce Durepo from the Aroostook Family Investment Center; Claudia Stevens representing United Way of Aroostook; back, Conrad Walton an original Coalition member; Sharon Campbell representing Sen. Olympia Snowe; Barb Hayslett representing Rep. Michael Michaud and Ervin MacDonald an original Coalition member and Phi Bosse representing Sen. Susan Collins.
