GHCA receives NEASC approval

HOULTON — Greater Houlton Christian Academy finished a milestone year when John Bishop, head of school, received the official accreditation plaque from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) at the association’s annual meeting in Boston in December. GHCA completed a multi-year accreditation process this year with both NEASC and the Association of Christian Schools International, the world’s largest Christian school association. GHCA is the only school in the state of Maine accredited by both organizations.

“We’re very grateful for the affirmation of educational quality this provides the school from the same association that accredits area public high schools,” Bishop said. “However, accreditation is all about continuous improvement, so now we focus on the hard work of improvement, of taking the school to the next level of excellence.” The school is revising its strategic plan in light of ideas that came out of the accreditation process. Various school task forces and committees will begin to work on these plans after the Christmas holidays.
The Academy offers a co-ed grades pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade and is approved by the state of Maine.
