Oakfield church gets an interior facelift

OAKFIELD, Maine — The Oakfield Seventh Day Adventist Church is in the midst of a major renovation to the building’s exterior.
Due to a water leak after a major rain storm this past summer, the ceiling on the inside of the church was seriously damaged. With insurance money, the church board voted to replace the ceiling and all the walls with new sheet rock, according to Jim Hogan, one of the church’s representative.
“New insulation will be installed through out the church walls and ceiling and the foyer is to be gutted and new sheet rock installed there also,” Hogan said. “This is only the second major up grade to the inside of the church in the last 10 years. Before that nothing had been done since the 1930s, so we can thank God for sending the heavy rain that damaged the church so the upgrade could happen.”
The work is being done by Albert Rickards of Rickards construction from the Patten area and is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
