Bertha Graham Carr celebrated her 100th birthday on Oct. 21 with at least three cakes from relatives and friends, two bouquets of flowers, handcrafted gifts, cards, good wishes and a stream of visitors in and out of her Danforth home all day. Daughter Judy Carr said family and friends came from different parts of Maine and from as far away as Connecticut to celebrate the big day. Judy also said her mother still has a good sense of humor. When hearing that someone is in their 70s or 80s, she says: “Gosh they’re old. I’m not old and I’m not going to be old.” Carr is seen here holding the Boston Post Cane as Danforth’s eldest citizen.
