Lined up to support Cleary

To the editor:
We write to strongly endorse Rep. Richard Cleary of Houlton for the Maine House of Representatives for District 8. We have met Rep. Cleary several times and each time were impressed with his intelligence, vision, and sincere desire to be a positive force for improvement in our community. Mr. Cleary has served two terms in the Maine Legislature and during that time we have seen results with improved roads and infrastructure and assistance with economic development projects. Rep. Cleary continues to focus on job growth and economic development, support for small business and farming, education and health care.
We want a representative who supports education, and we know it is a priority for Rep. Cleary, who was endorsed by the Maine Education Association. He fought for our schools when they were labeled by the state and he recently spoke at the Hodgdon JMG I&I program at the Hodgdon High School. He often has students job shadow him in his law practice and can be found regularly visiting classes to speak about the law or government to the students.
We want a representative who supports economic development and Rep. Cleary serves as the Lead House Member on the Business Research & Economic Development Committee. He has helped businesses expand and has taken the steps necessary to help businesses navigate through state and federal rules to achieve the growth plans they desire.
We want a representative who is accessible. Rep. Cleary has visited people in their homes, met with them at his office, and spoken or corresponded with individuals by telephone, letter or email. He has held economic forums, provided important information through newsletters and internet updates and strives to keep the public informed. He takes the time to hear our concerns and find solutions. He is very responsive to questions or concerns and makes time for everyone with any issue.
In summary, we want a representative who listens well and has the experience, the know-how and the County work ethic to tackle the tough issues we care about for our community. Rep. Cleary has shown that he can do the job and that he will continue to get the job done.
We are impressed with Rep. Cleary’s credentials and believe that he is a qualified and committed to serve as our Representative for the Maine House of Representatives. We hope that you agree and will support him on Nov. 2 with your vote.
