Did you know that the general public can turn in expired, unwanted, or unused controlled substances and other medications for destruction, to the Houlton Police Department. Routinely your Houlton Police Department works hard to make our town safe, and the best place to live. By offering this benefit to Houlton’s citizens we remove potentially dangerous controlled substance from our medicine cabinets. These drugs are a potential source of supply for illegal use and an unacceptable risk to public health and safety. Any questions please call the Houlton Police Department at 207-532-2287.
Also on Sept. 25, the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency and local law enforcement agencies will be hosting National Take-Back Day Events at the Aroostook County sites. The collection event will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Houlton Police Department, 97 Military St.; Presque Isle Police Department, 43 North St.; and Caribou Police Department, 25 High St.
This one-day effort is intended to bring national focus to the issue of increasing pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse. Just drop off your drugs at your local police department, no questions asked.
