‘Lets Go 5210’ Kids Wellness Day

    The Houlton Recreation Department was awarded a mini grant from Healthy Aroostook and sponsored a “Lets Go 5210” Kids Wellness Day” at the “Just For Kids” Summer playground program.
    “Lets Go 5210” is an initiative to promote healthy lifestyle choices for children, youth, and families. The goal of this program is to promote and increase physical activity and healthy eating.
    At the wellness day all the activities were centered around life-long activities children could participate in. They participated in karate, zumba, tennis sessions, as well as a healthy snack session.
    The children were provided a healthy barbecue lunch and drink in addition to a variety of fun activities in the afternoon such as jump roping, frisbee contest, 50-meter run, 5210 relay race and more. Each child took home a “Lets Go 5210” T-shirt and gift bag.
