North Country Cruisers to host annual ‘Show ‘n’ Shine’

Weekend has lots of fun, give aways, activities for young and old — many vintage vehicles to view
This weekend, the North Country Cruisers will host its 11th annual “Show and Shine”  at the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum in Littleton.
“Pray for good weather,” said Tim McAtee of the North Country Cruisers. “We’ve always had a good turnout. The show is a community service to raise money for the local Toy Drive.”
The “Show and Shine” features classic cars, muscle cars, tuner cars, trucks, motorcycles, snowmobiles, trailer trucks and much more. The two-day show is free to the public and benefits the Cruisin’ For Kids campaign.
Anyone who brings a new toy also gets a free hotdog and drink. However, no pets or alcohol are allowed at the show.
This is the fifth year that the North Country Cruisers will sponsor the Cruisin’ for Kids Toy Drive to benefit local charities again this holiday season. All money raised is spent locally and toys are donated to organizations within the area to be distributed.
A unique fund-raiser this year for the Cruisin’ for Kids Toy Drive is a calendar, sponsored by local businesses, featuring club members and their cars. The 12-month calendar is $15, with all proceeds earmarked for the Cruisin’ for Kids Toy Drive.
The lawn of the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum will be packed-full of vehicles on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 28-29. There will be more than 19 different classes, including a new one dedicated to children.
“The class is for kids’ stuff,” said McAtee. “Kids can bring their Soap Box Derby cars, Legos, models, bicycles or pedal cars.”
Three trophies will be awarded in each class represented, as well as the Participants’ Choice, Peoples’ Choice and Best Of Show awards. Special awards to be presented are the President’s Memorial and Best Club Attendance.
Another new addition to the show is the Kids’ Choice Award, where children will get a ballot to vote for their favorite vehicle on display.
Registration on Saturday is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, 9 a.m. to noon.
During the weekend, the North Country Cruisers will not only show their cars, but have games for children and adults, including the Teeter-Totter, which is a balancing game. Rick Spellman will also D.J. music during the show.
Highlighting Saturday will be a Cruise at 2 p.m., followed by a roast beef supper to benefit the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum from 4:30-6 p.m. Cost is $8 per person. On Saturday, the museum will be open from 1 p.m. to the end of the supper, and on Sunday from 12-5 p.m. Tours are $5 per person.
On Sunday, the show will have more games and give aways. And, the Mobile Veterans Center will be on hand to answer any veterans’ questions, as well.
During the weekend, the museum will also be open for tours. Admission is by donation.
