Authors coming to York’s
Popular author and retired game warden Randall Probert will join 10 other national and regional writers for book signings and a meet-and-greet event in front of York’s Bookstore in Market Square from 1-4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 21. The editorial staff from three northern Maine magazines will also join the event.
Free concert Saturday
A program featuring such diverse selections as jazz and Renaissance music will be performed Saturday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Church of the Good Shepherd on Main St. in Houlton.
A freewill offering will be taken to support repairs and restoration of the church’s 19th century Hutchings tracker organ. Larry Hutchinson has coordinated the program to include popular Houlton vocalists and instrumentalists along with other musicians from northern Aroostook County and New Hampshire. Hutchinson said the public is invited.

Saturday open house
AMITY — The A.E. Howell Conservation Center, 105 Lycette Rd. in Amity, will hold the last open house for the summer season on Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Admission is free; donations will be accepted. Tours will take place all day to view animals at the refuge including two black bears, several owls, deer, a bald eagle and wolves. Photos will be on display.

National Guard reunion
The second annual reunion of members of the National Guard 152nd Field Artillery will be hosted by the 152nd Field Artillery Association beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Caribou Armory, located at 120 Sincock Street in Caribou.
The reunion will feature activities and a historical display. Anyone having any pictures, videos, stories or artifacts related to the 152nd FA are encouraged to bring these items along, at which time they will be scanned, in turn available for viewing at future gatherings.
There will be a very brief, semi-formal meeting of the 152nd Field Artillery Association during this reunion.
