To the editor:
Teaching at MSAD 29 these past four years has been wonderful. I have enjoyed so many extraordinary moments with the students I’ve had the privilege to teach. I feel so blessed to have been able to work in a music department surrounded by top-notch teachers and administrators, dedicated students, and an incredibly supportive community.
This week, I was offered a teaching position in southern Maine. As many of you know, that is where I grew up and where my parents still live. Being close to my family is of great importance to me. It is with a heavy heart that I’m announcing that I will not be returning to SAD 29 this fall.
To all the student singers: sing out and never be bashful. Love what you sing and let it show on your faces. You are an amazing group of young musicians. Every chorus I worked with lifted my spirits when I walked into rehearsals. I can’t think of a better place to have started my career. I have so many fond memories of my time in Houlton that I will carry with me in this new chapter of my life.
Thank you all for the support you have given me over the past four years. I will miss all of you.
