It’s a great sight to see over 42 children learning the pleasure of hitting a golf ball. Bruce Nason, David Grant and Isaac Brown are there giving valuable instructions from 75 yards in, on certain holes. Instructions that will give these youngsters, boys and girls, a chance to learn something that will make many of their lives a little more pleasurable. Maybe one day, another Jack Nicklaus or Arnold Palmer may come from this area. I’m sure every one of them will dream of a ball they hit well. Remember kids, golf can be very frustrating, but don’t give up. If you keep at it, it will come to you.
Houlton community Golf Club championship is approaching and it’s time to sign up to play August 21-22. There are several divisions, so everyone has a chance. It should be a big field.
This is the weekend County Open play is in effect. Spectators are invited to visit Houlton Community Country Club and VaJoWa. The clubhouses are open and refreshments are plentiful. You may even enjoy hearing the groans of missed putts and wild swings.
