“There are many exciting events this season,” Assistant Coach Richard Cleary said. “We have an NFL camp scheduled for June 11 in Caribou, our mini-camp and Jamboree in August, and a 100-mile relay race that we are planning for the end of July. All of that before the football season even kicks off.”
Head Coach Brian Reynolds said that the call-outs resulted in 40 players signing up for the 2010 football season. Another call-out is scheduled for Hodgdon High School on May 27.
“Last year, we had an undefeated season and captured the Aroostook Football championship. That generated a lot of interest for this year. We would like to build on last year’ success,” Reynolds said.
Additionally, the group discussed the following: Registrations/schedule Hodgdon Night; recruit officials/coaches; fund-raising; Maliseet benefit bingo on June 3; schedule summer mini-camps; formation of Booster Club; delegate duties for upcoming year and game schedule.
The meeting concluded with a donation from Patrick Gordon, who presented the Aroostook Knights with six cases of Gatorade.
“I’m impressed with the football program and the benefits it has brought for the youth of our community,” he said. “ I wanted to make a contribution in some way,” he said.
The next call-out will be in Hodgdon on May 27, wit the time to be announced.
