Hartford, Sandra A., 66, March 29, 2010. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Houlton. Interment was held in the New Limerick Cemetery. NEW LIMERICK – Sandra A. Hartford, 66, passed away March 29, 2010, with her family by her side, after losing an extremely painful and courageous battle with cancer. She passed away the same way she lived her life, laid back, easy going and never wanting to offend anyone.
She was born May 24, 1943, the daughter of Theodore and Maragret (Lake) Ingraham. Sandra spent many years as a hairdresser. She also was an activity coordinator for many years at Crestview Manor Nursing Home, Gardner Nursing Home and Madigan Estates Nursing Home until her retirement in 2005. Prior to her retirement and after, she discovered a hidden talent for art and she became an artist under the direction of her great friend, Esther Faulkner. Art became her passion along with the outdoors and all it has to offer. She also worked side by side with her husband in building and operating seasonal camp rentals in Oakfield and Bancroft. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her mother of Madigan Estates; her husband of 32 years, Wayne Hartford of New Limerick; a daughter, Christine Lash and her husband, Bret, of Hudson; a son, William More and his friend, Michelle Cofske, of Houlton; a grandson, Garth "Dude" Townsend of Island Falls; a brother, Charles and his wife, Linda Ingraham, of Cary Plantation; and a very special cousin, Judi Davis and her husband, Gary, of Zephyrhills, Fla. She will be sadly missed by her extended family: a stepson, Michael Hartford and his friend, Kim, of Portland; a step-daughter, Julie McLean; step-grandchildren, Kyle, Kasey, Kaylee and Katie McVey, all of Millinocket; and special step-grandchildren, Brittany and Sara Sirois of Houlton. She will be missed by her great friends, Robin Crandall of Oakfield and Sandra Plourde of Houlton.
She was predeceased by her father. Graveside services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 3, at New Limerick Cemetery with the Rev. David Tuttle officiating. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of one's choice, care of Bowers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 579, Houlton, ME 04730.
