Grant, Ronald D., 69, Island Falls, March 14, 2010. ImageISLAND FALLS – Ronald L. Grant, 69, died peacefully March 14, 2010, at home with his family by his side. Ron was the son of Beatrice (Delano) Young and was born July 19, 1940, in Patten.
    Ron grew up in Island Falls and attended the local schools. He served two years in the US Army, then returned home only to find no employment so he went to Connecticut with his brother and sister. Ron missed the great outdoors as he was an avid hunter and trapper so he returned home and there married the love of his life, Marlene Curtis. Ron worked various jobs throughout his life, one of which was with the construction of SACS. He ironically, years later, became a bus driver for the district for 20 years and will be forever remembered by hundreds of kids as “Ronald McDonald.”
    Ron is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marlene; daughter Lynn Russell and her companion Bernie Goodall, son Ronald Grant, Jr., all of Island Falls; 3 special granddaughters, Shawna and husband Ed Robinson of Ft. Drum, NY,. Jennifer and companion Larry Brown of Oakfield and Stephanie of Island Falls. He is also survived by the apples of his eye, his 3 great-grandchildren, Autumn and Cayden Robinson and Austin Brown; his very special sister and brother, Freda and husband Tom Poulin of Riverside, CA and Herbert (Joe) Young of Island Falls. Too many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends to list. He was predeceased by his mother, sisters Hilda York and Arlene McGraw and brothers Edward Freve and Miles Grant. At the request of Ron there will be no services, just a simple cremation. The family would like to thank Hospice of Aroostook, Diane, Janet, Terri, Karen, and Deacon Al.
