He graduated from Ricker Classical Institute in 1962 and Bob Jones University in Greenville , S. C. in 1966.   After graduation Dallas worked for an agency that placed children in foster care and then he became an agent for Agway Insurance Company. For the past 35 years Dallas was an insurance agent for State Farm Insurance Company.  He was pleased to represent the company in the Houlton area and to provide coverage and quick service to all his customers. He worked hard to build up the business and to let people know that he was there for them. His customers became so used to Dallas’ willingness to help that he would get phone calls at all hours of the day and night from people in need. Dallas retired from State Farm in December 2009 and looked forward to selling real estate with his son, Sam. Dallas had a great heart for helping people and was widely known as a friend to the friendless and homeless. No one will forget his smile, his laugh, and his hand reaching out – not to receive, but to give. So many people have been given a second or third chance because of Dallas ’ generosity. As God blessed him with success, Dallas made sure that he did not hoard material things to himself, but passed the blessings on to many others. His involvement in the community included serving on the board of directors of MSAD #70 and of Greater Houlton Christian Academy. He served as chair of both boards. He participated in a jail ministry and helped those being released get acclimated back into the community. As a member of Military Street Baptist Church, Dallas was very active in various ministries.   Dallas loved his family and let them know that they came before any other commitment. He leaves a huge hole in the lives of many people.
Dallas is survived by his wife, Christine A. (Putnam); four sons, Robert D. (Leisa) of Ashland, Corey E. (Holly) of Kalamazoo, MI, Samuel D. (Kiley) of Hodgdon, Aaron A. of Clarksville, TN; one brother, Edward (Linda) of Lakeland, FL; six grandchildren, Kurtis, Kaitlyn, Davis, Dallas, Mia, and Daniel, many nieces and nephews, several brothers- and sisters-in-law and too many friends to count.
Friends may call 6-9 p.m. on Friday, March 19, at the Houlton Wesleyan Church  where funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday,  with Randall Burns officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Those wishing to make donations in Dallas’ memory may contribute to his favorite organizations: Military Street Baptist Church building fund or Greater Houlton Christian Academy c/o Bowers Funeral Home, PO Box 579, Houlton ME 04730.
