Houlton basketball teams noted for sportsmanship
    The Houlton High School varsity basketball teams were honored with sportsmanship awards, as their seasons ended.
The Houlton Shiretowners received the IAABO #150 Sportsmanship Award. They finished the year at 3-15.
The Houlton Lady Shires were recipients of the IAABO #150 Sportsmanship Award, along with the Maine Principals’ Association Class C Eastern Maine Tournament Girl’s Sportsmanship Banner. The girls accepted the banner before the state games in Bangor.
The Lady Shires finished their year fourth in Class C with a 13-5 record. They fell to Washington Academy in the quarterfinals, 45-38.

Adams offers hoop clinic at Hodgdon
A free basketball clinic will be held at Hodgdon Elementary School on March 11, March 17 and March 25, with instructor Jerry Adams.
The clinic will be for SAD 70 students only. There will be two sessions with youth in grades 3-5 receiving instruction from 2:30-4 p.m., followed by grades 6-8 from 4-5:30 p.m.

Senior Wellness Day planned
The Houlton Recreation Department and Healthy Aroostook will be cosponsoring the first ever Senior Wellness Day.  It will be held on Tuesday, March 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Houlton Recreation Center.
This free event is open to the general public and was developed to share a variety of wellness activities for the senior population.
Some of the participants will be Cooperative Extension, Aroostook Area Agency on Aging, Houlton Police Department, Cary Library, Cyr Bus Tours, and much more.
There will also be a giveaway each hour and demonstrations/participation sessions
Such as yoga, Wii Fitness and Wii Sport, and more.
