The General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) Patten Woman’s Club raised money for their scholarship fund with a raffle for an L.L. Bean gift certificate. Donna Patterson of Patten was the lucky raffle winner. Club member Janine Bertone of Shin Pond sold the most tickets and was awarded a $50  Jewelry from the Earth gift certificate for her efforts.
According to Mary Hall, a Ways and Means committee member, the raffle sold $650 worth of tickets and it was the club’s first raffle for an L.L. Bean gift certificate. After expenses, said Hall, the balance goes into the annual scholarship fund which gives $500 to a Katahdin High School graduate upon completion of the first college semester.
Committee members are: President Jutta Beyer, Sally Drew, Marilyn Somers, Doris Derespino, Mary Hall, Janine Bertone, Linda Goodman, Sara Hill, Cecily MacKinnon and Eve Rice.
