Boy Scouts sponsor free supper

ISLAND FALLS — The boy scouts of Troop 202 in Island Falls sponsored a free public supper on Saturday evening. An annual event of turkey, ham and all the fixings is cooked and served by the scouts themselves and gives back to the communities that in turn donate to the troop.

Turkeys and hams are cooked in fire pits, trash cans and ovens and are served with potatoes, peas, carrots, squash, stuffing, rolls and assorted pies.  The event was held at the Big Valley Sno Club, who is the corporate sponsor of the troop and has provided a meeting place for their activities for many years.  Scoutmaster Jeff Brooks of Island Falls explains community service is at the heart of scouting. Approximately 100 people were served including delivering meals to several residents in the area.
Donations collected were given to the Agape Food Pantry of Island Falls.
