ELLSWORTH— The Maine Community Foundation is encouraging nonprofit and public organizations seeking funding to apply to the Aroostook County Fund if their proposed projects draw on the strengths of the community and foster collaboration. The Aroostook County Fund is part of the Maine Community Foundation’s Community Building Grants Program.
The next application deadline for grants is Friday, Jan. 15, 2010. Organizations will receive notification in late March.
In the most recent grant cycle, the Aroostook County Committee received 21 proposals requesting approximately $114,000. With $25,200 available for grant making, the committee awarded 12 grants averaging $2,014, each.
New guidelines for MaineCF’s Community Building Grant Program go into effect in 2010. Any organization planning to apply for a grant from the Aroostook County Fund should visit the “for nonprofits” section at www.mainecf.org to review new guidelines, download the new application and register for an informational webinar — an on-line conference.
