Weather disrupts traffic
Depending on your location in southern Aroostook County, Monday’s snowfall could have been up to three inches before it turned to rain around midday. Northern reaches of the county got up to 4.5 inches.
With that messy weather came slippery road conditions responsible for “a number of accidents throughout the county Monday — nothing with serious injury. But there were several fender-benders and vehicles off the road because of the slippery roads and the weather we had,” according Sgt. Tom Pelletier of the Maine State Police Department.
“Most of the reports of accidents started coming in early in the morning,” said Pelletier who added that a good number of the incidents involved passenger vehicles.
Police investigations
Police have not released any details but they may wrap up investigations this week into a number of mid- and late-November residential burglaries in Houlton.
Also, according to police, the investigation is continuing into the theft of a cash register from Ken’s Store on the Calais Rd. as well as a forced entry at Ferris Quik Stop on Military St., both on the night of Nov. 21.
