Golf State Champs
We are very proud of our golf team for winning the State Class C Championship. Our soccer teams, which have done very well this season, are in the playoffs. We will be rooting for them as the girls play George Stevens Academy and the boys as they travel to Washington Academy. We wish them the best of luck.
Parent-teacher conferences will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 10, from noon to 5 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Parents or guardians upon arrival should pick up a copy of their child’s schedule and move around the building at their leisure, visiting the teachers they would like to see. It will be first come, first served when it comes to seeing the teachers. No appointment is necessary.
The fall musical, “Damn Yankees”, will be held on Nov. 20, 21 and 22. The auditorium will be redone by then and the music department is excited for everyone to see the new space. Thanksgiving break will be Nov. 25-27.
English Department News
Mrs. Sullivan’s 10th grade English class is studying short stories from world literature. The students have made a map to document the settings of the stories, where the authors are from, and the respective geography, which corresponds. Mrs. Sullivan’s eleventh grade English class has begun reading origin tales and early American literature. The class has set up access to read and listen to the textbook online. Some assignments and review may also be done online. The students also use their laptops to record answers and practice tests.
Yearbook News
Orders for the 2010 yearbooks will be taken through December, but the discounted price of $45 is only available until Friday, Oct. 30. After Oct. 30, books will be $50 Yearbooks may also be reserved for a down payment of $25. See Mrs. Wotton in the office.
Art Department News
From the depths of the art room, it is October Pumpkin Time. We will be having a pumpkin show on Friday, Oct. 30, in the art room. The show starts at 11:30 and runs until the end of the school day. Students will be carving, painting, shaving, and creating pumpkin displays and pumpkin people all next week.
Junior High News
There will be a junior high Halloween dance on Friday, Oct. 30, from 7-10 p.m. in the school cafeteria. This dance will be well chaperoned. Once students enter the dance, they will not be allowed to leave before the end of the dance unless parents are contacted.
