Jane Root, Maliseet domestic violence and sexual assault program director, presented Butch Asselin, chief of the Houlton Police Department with a special thank you as part of October Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Each October for the past 20 years, Root has been baking large chocolate chip cookies and distributing them to law enforcement officers as a token of appreciation for their work to protect victims of domestic violence.
