State parks, Maine Forest Service will be open on shutdown day

    AUGUSTA — Maine’s state parks and historic sites will remain open and staffed on Friday even though the day has been designated as a state shutdown day.
    Maine Forest Service forest rangers also will remain on duty to provide law enforcement and forest protection in the Maine woods.
    On Friday, Oct. 9, Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands parks and historic sites managers and rangers will be working. The full amenities of the parks and historic sites will be available. Park fees still will be collected, and park facilities will be cleaned and maintained on a regular basis.
    Some state park campgrounds remain open for camping. Lily Bay State Park remains open through Columbus Day, Oct. 12, while Sebago Lake, Camden Hills, Bradbury Mountain, Aroostook, Cobscook Bay and Lamoine state parks remain open through Oct. 15.
