Sherman makes plans for pumpkin festival

    SHERMAN — The inaugural Pumpkin Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 24, in Sherman. The event, which will be held near the Sherman Park bandstand, promises to be fun for the whole family with free admission.
    The following is a tentative schedule of events for the day:
    Noon — Costume parade. Everyone welcome. Entrants are asked to keep the costumes family-friendly.
    12:30 p.m. —Bounce house open for ages 5 and under, while games for children 6 and older will be offered. Register for the pumpkin cookie and pumpkin pie contest.
    1 p.m. — Dessert auction.
    1:30 p.m. — Bounce house opens for ages 6 and older, while games for children 5 and younger will be offered.
    2-6 p.m. — Kirbside Prophet (live band) will be playing. Bounce house open for all ages,
    4 p.m. — Dinner at Molunkus Valley Snow Drifters Clubhouse located about quarter mile from the park on North Street. The cost is $4.50 per person.
    6 p.m. — Pumpkin lighting (bring your own jack-o-lantern) and drawing for 50/50 raffle.
    Participants are asked to bring their own pumpkin. If it’s not carved, you can carve it there or someone will carve it for you. Also, there will be hayrides, face painting, sweets, hot cocoa and prizes. The bandstand will be open with hot dogs and a bake sale.
