LINNEUS — A 47-year-old Linneus man was arrested early Monday after reportedly shooting a 19-year-old in the leg Sunday evening.
Joseph Cordeiro was arrested in his 1844 Bangor Road home without incident and charged with Elevated Aggravated Assault (a Class A crime); Aggravated Reckless Conduct with a firearm (Class B); and furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol (Class D).
At about 11:40 p.m., state police dispatch received a 911 call advising that there had been a shooting at Cordeiro’s residence. The caller advised that Seth Suitter, 19, had been shot in his lower leg and was being taken to Houlton Regional Hospital, where he was treated and later released.
The investigation revealed that Cordeiro allegedly shot Suitter in the leg with a .22 caliber pistol.
Troopers Carmen Lilley and Timmy Saucier responded to Houlton Regional Hospital and Cordeiro’s residence to investigate.
The incident occurred during a gathering at the residence. Several witnesses were interviewed at the scene.
Maine State Police Criminal Investigation Division III detectives are assisting in the ongoing investigation.
