Concerned over proposed gun bill

To the editor:
    I have just received a disturbing call from the NRA. Although it came as an effort for membership, the message was alarming.
    It appears our ever oppressive government is pushing forward an anti-gun bill HR45 that will make owners and purchasers of any firearm with a detachable magazine register by way of having to pass a test on firearms laws issued by the attorney general’s office, be finger printed and subject to ridiculous fines and prison terms for failure to comply. Also, you will be required to notify the government when you move or be faced with those same fines and prison terms.
    Imagine the FTA or Department of Homeland Security officers kicking in your door, dragging you out of your home in handcuffs, tossing you in the back seat of a car with no handles on the doors, marching you into the county, strip searching your person and processing you as a felon. All because you failed to notify them of a move and you own a .22 rifle with a 10 round clip that you’ve had since you were ten. And with the Patriot Act they can do it any time they want without a warrant.
    This whole idea smacks of Nazi-ism. Didn’t Hitler proscribe to these measures early on in his chancellorship? Disarming the citizenry was the first phase. Armed civilians are citizens, disarmed civilians are subjects. It’s that simple.
    In the message from the NRA was stated that this bill may be voted on in the next 30 days. As Americans, we are NOT to be governed in this manner. The federal and state government cannot repeal our inalienable right to have and bear arms. The constitution prohibits the government from doing this and many of the very things they do to us every day.
    I urge every one of you to flood your congressman’s offices with letters or e-mail to defeat HR45. Even if you do not own a firearm, do not sit idly by. Just think about what will be next. I also want to lead you all to an anthology of articles by John Silvera in a book titled “The Coming American Dictatorship” published by Backwoods Home Magazine. Unlike most of the media today, this is a truthful look at where government has been and where it is going in an easy-to-read format.
    We the people must rise up and take back control of our government. It is time again for a revolution. Get out and vote, be heard, write to your local, state and federal leaders, be aware of what they vote on. Not only is it your right as an American citizen, it is your obligation.
