The Monticello Fun Days Committee is proud to announce the schedule for the annual Fun Days this Friday and Saturday, August 28 and 29.
“There’s definitely something for everyone this year” said committee member P.J. Harvey. “From the ice cream social to survivor games to the Rock Dox, no one is going to be looking for something to do in Monticello this weekend.”
Friday night kicks off with an ice cream social and sock hop at the Monticello School gym. DJ Fitzpatrick will be leading karaoke with music from the ‘50s all the way to today. So, throw on your poodle skirt and penny loafers and head to the hop.
Saturday promises enough action to keep you going all day. The day kicks off at 10 a.m. with family games at the Monticello Fish & Game Clubhouse, including an egg toss, a half-dollar search that promises to fill up a few piggy banks and an Oreo stacking contest.
Food is served from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. While you’re munching on hot dogs and hamburgers, there will be an apple pie baking contest. If you are planning on entering the contest, please bring your apple pie to the clubhouse by 11 a.m.
The action heats up at noon with survivor games, including rope hanging, clay pigeon shooting, blind alley ball, downhill roll and the ball throw.
And, keep those lawnmowers revved up! At 1:30 p.m. the lawnmower obstacle course race starts. The day comes to a climax at 3 p.m. with the grand finale games, including an eating contest (organizers would not divulge exactly what would be eaten, however), a blindfolded rope course, and a wet sweatpants race. The busy weekend continues Saturday night, when Aroostook County’s own Rock Dox play at the Corey Potato House. “Last year’s concert was a great time for everyone, and now that we’ve got a year under our belt we know this year’s concert will be one to remember,” said committee member Kent Wotton.
There are only a few tickets available at the Blue Moose Restaurant and The Country Store in Monticello. All in all, it promises to be a fun-filled weekend in Monticello.
