Scrapbooking Dreams get-away

Jennifer Hartsgrove opened her Shin Pond Road business, Scrapbooking Dreams four years ago. She turned the space in her home into a business that allowed her to put her degree in fine arts to work on a daily basis. With a growing family Hartsgrove recommends calling ahead to make sure she is there before making the drive.
“I’m a creative person anyway and this is my creative outlet,” said Hartsgrove. “I specialized in photography when I was in college and this gives me a chance to showcase my work.”
As her business became more well known she increased her inventory to include more than 900 papers, including Bazill cardstock, Disney, military, sports, hunting and outdoor adventure, holiday, polished stone, wedding, seasonal and custom name pages. She also invested in the popular Creative Cutter, a computerized machine that creates custom die cuts.
“Anything you can type on the computer, I can die cut,” she added.
Hartsgrove is planning her third annual Croptoberfest getaway at North Country Lodge in Patten. Customers have the option of choosing Oct. 16, 17 and 18 or Oct. 23, 24 and 25.
The fee is $220 per person that includes, two overnights, meals, beverages and snacks, a $25 gift certificate to Scrapbooking Dreams and an opportunity to get away from it all by yourself or with your best friends.
Scrapbooking goodies, games and giveaways will add to the exciting weekend. One can also take advantage of massage services by Kathy Baker, LMT from the Women’s Wellness Massage & Spa.
The Lodge is nestled in pine and spruce trees overlooking two small ponds. The rooms are bright and spacious and scrapbookers will be able to enjoy working on their projects in a beautiful setting surrounded by nature.
Hartsgrove encourages anyone interested to sign up early, since space is filling up fast. A deposit of $100 is due by Sept. 18 and the balance by Oct.1. All fees must be paid with cash or by check. Credit cards are not accepted for the package price, but will be accepted for scrapbooking supplies and classes. Arrival is at 3 p.m. on Friday and checkout is at 3 p.m. on Sunday. For an extra $50 one can get an early start and register on Thursday, but you will need to bring your own “bag” dinner for that night.
