50th annual Potato Feast Days schedule

9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Friends and Needles Quilt Guild Silver Anniversary Quilt Show will be held at the Elks Lodge on Main St., Admission is $5. Visit www.friendsandneedles.org for more information.
5:30 p.m. Parade of Dolls begins at the Chamber of Commerce office, 109 Main St. Refreshments for the children after the parade. FMI call 532-4216.
6 p.m. Children’s Coin Scramble at Monument Park in front of Cary Library. Two age groups – ages 7 and under and ages 8 – 11.
7 p.m. Musical evening at the Church of the Good Shepherd.
8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Community Market on Broadway.
9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Friends and Needles Quilt Show again. Admission $5.
10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Potato Feast Arts and Craft Fair in Monument Park. In case of rain, fair will be held at the Gentle Memorial Building on Main St.
10 a.m. Walking Tour of historic downtown Houlton will begin at the Aroostook Historical and Arts Museum, 109 Main St., led by Leigh Cumming, Jr.
Mr. Potato Head decorating contest for ages 10 and under. Use a real potato and your creativity to decorate Mr. Potato Head and bring to Monument Park by Cary Library.
Potato Salad Contest – bring your best homemade potato salad in a covered disposable container to Monument Park by Cary Library.
11 a.m. Potato Games including potato picking, potato sack races, guess the potatoes in the barrel. Games will be in Monument Park by Cary Library.
12 p.m. Potato Row – at amphitheater. Local cooks present their favorite recipes in the following categories: bread, soup, salad, casseroles and candy. Cash prizes.
Children’s coin scramble at Monument Park in front of Cary Library. Two age groups, ages 7 and under and ages 8 – 11.
11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Ice cream and pie social at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Main St.
1 p.m. Ladies potato peeling contest at Monument Park by Cary Library. Do you think you are the fastest peeler in town? Show us your skills! Cash prizes.
1 – 3 p.m. Spinning demonstration by Michelle Bye on the porch of the Aroostook Historical and Arts Museum, 109 Main St.
5 p.m. Roast pork and potato public supper with veggies and pies at the United Methodist Church, corner of Military St. and School St. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Sponsored by the Men’s Group of the Methodist Church.
6 – 8 p.m. Houlton High School Civil Rights Team will host Community Conversation, “There are 40, do we have them?” at the Southside School. Free admission. Sponsored by Aroostook Abuse Prevention and Link for Hope.
9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Continuation of the Friends and Needles Quilt Show featuring a special exhibit of raffle quilts made by guild members over the past 25 years.
12 – 1 p.m. Potato Feast Road Rally – registration at the Millar Civic Center in Community Park. Entry fee of $10 per vehicle. Follow directions and answer questions along the race route. This is a Timed Event – not a race. Estimated time of route is 1 ? to 2 hours. Cash prizes.
