Washington County Community College
The Washington County Community College has released the honors list for the Spring 2009 semester. The following are the requirements that must be met: students earning a semester grade point average of 4.00 are considered high honor students and are eligible for the President’s List.
Students earning a semester grade point average of 3.5 or above are considered honor students and are eligible for the Dean’s List. Additional requirements are: the student must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours and no course grade below a “C”.
Those students on the Dean’s List are, Renae Heath from Oakfield; Tyler Morse from Danforth and Thomas Schools from Littleton.
UNE
Laurel Beth Ranck, daughter of Julie and Kevin DeMaere of Houlton and David Ranck of Marissa, Illinois has been named to the Dean’s List for the 2009 spring semester at the University of New England. Dean’s List students must have attained a grade point average of 3.30 or better out of a possible 4.0 at the end of the semester.
A 2008 graduate of Houlton High School, Laurel is a major in occupational therapy. Laurel is also actively involved at the University in several areas including the leadership group and Edge.
Thomas College
The following students attending Thomas College in Waterville have been named to the dean’s list in the Day division for the spring 2009 semester.
Ashlee McClure, Houlton; Tim Hartin, Island Falls and Paul Lovett, Jr., Stacyville.
Maine Maritime
Curtis Libby of Cary Plantation was recently named to the Dean’s List at Maine Maritime Academy for outstanding academic achievement in the second semester of the 2008-2009 academic year. Students named to the Dean’s List earn a grade point average of 3.3 or above on a 4.0 scale.
Libby, a member of the class of 2011, is majoring in Marine Systems Engineering Design. He is a graduate of Houlton High School.
Florida Institute
Dawn McDonald of Oakfield was named to the Dean’s List at Florida Institute of Technology for the spring semester, which ended in May. A sophomore, McDonald is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Bio Sci, General Biology.
To be included on the Dean’s List, a student must complete 12 or more graded credits in a semester with a semester grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.4.
Husson University
Area students were named to Husson University Dean’s List for the Spring Semester 2009. To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must earn a 3.4 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

White, junior Occupational Therapy major, all of Oakfield; Angela K. Moore, first-year Nursing major and Brooke A. Smallwood, junior Physical Therapy major, both of Patten.
New England School of Communications
A total of 212 students received honor grades for the spring semester at the New England School of Communications, an affiliate of Husson University. Of that total 99 posted high honors grades(3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale) and 113 achieved honors grades(3.0 to 3.4). Receiving high honors was Robert Nesbitt of Hodgdon.

Area students receiving diplomas from Husson University at commencement ceremonies held on Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10, during the 110th Commencements of Husson University.
Jodie L. Crone, associate of science business administration and Elishia M. Dodge, bachelor of science psychology, cum laude, of Danforth; Ryan E. Duff, bachelor of science business and technology; Lindsay A. Stewart, bachelor of science business administration, cum laude and Michelle E. Varney, bachelor of science kinesiology, summa cum laude, all of Houlton; Griffin D. Hardy, bachelor of science accounting, summa cum laude of Oakfield; Allison L. Emery, bachelor of science nursing and Stacey L. Emery, master of science business of Island Falls.
Husson awarded degrees to 530 students. Students came from 150 Maine towns, 15 states and eight countries, earning associates, bachelors and masters and doctoral degrees from Husson’s schools of business, education, health, and science and humanities.
Timothy Tapley, son of Koel and Karla Tapley of Jackman, and grandson of the late Joseph McAtee and Anna Schools of Houlton graduated from Husson University with a Masters Degree in Business and Bachelors in Math.
As 2009 Husson Class President Tapley gave the Commencement address. He is employed at Sam\’s Club in Bangor and makes his home in Eddington with his wife, Alicia.
