ImageAUBURN – Raymond J. Fortier, 69, a resident of 6 Rosewood Road, Auburn died unexpectedly Monday at his residence. He was born in Ludlow, December 16, 1939, the son of James and Viola (Jameson) Fortier.
    He attended Houlton Schools, and was a graduate of Houlton High School. He also served briefly in the Army National Guard. His life's occupation was being a car salesman.
    He was an avid fisherman whether on the ocean or on the lake. He also loved his John Deere Tractor which was his pride and joy.
    Survivors include his companion of 18 years, Shirley Poliquin of Auburn; three sons, Charles E. Fortier of New Jersey; Michael R. Fortier and wife, Mary of New Hampshire; and Brian A. Fortier and wife, Leila of Okinawa; one brother, Charles Fortier of San Diego, CA; two sisters Muriel Powers and Jeannie Merritt both of Houlton. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Samuel J. Fortier, Sarah J. Fortier, and Tyler Poliquin.
    Memorial services honoring Raymond's life were held Saturday, May 30, 2 p.m. at Dillingham & Son Memorial Chapel with Reverend Richard Cullen presiding. Burial will be private. Arrangements by Dillingham & Son Memorial Chapel, 62 Spring St., Auburn.
