Dollars for Scholars phone-a-thon a success

Though the members of the local Dollars for Scholars were unable to use Unicel cell phones, they were lucky to have enough district cell phones to continue this tradition.
     More than $10,000 has already been received from pledges made on the three nights of the phone-a-thon.
“Each night, more than 20 students from both schools worked diligently calling members of the communities. It is a pleasure to work with such fine individuals who plan to further their education. Hopefully one day, they will return to the area with successful careers,” said Holly McPartland, Houlton guidance counselor.
If anyone was not called and would like to contribute  to the Dollars for Scholars scholarship fund, call the Houlton High School guidance office at 532-6551 ext. 2 or mail in a contribution to Houlton High School Guidance Office, 7 Bird St., Houlton, Maine 04730.
The students and Dollars for Scholars committee truly appreciate everyone’s efforts, said McPartland.
