String concert set for UMPI
PRESQUE ISLE – The University of Maine at Presque Isle presents “Spring Strings,” a recital concert by the students of Dr. Anatole Wieck, professor of music at the University of Maine, on Friday, May 15, at 8 p.m. in Wieden Auditorium.
Wieck has taught upper strings at the University of Maine, has conducted in Europe and in North and South America and has participated in chamber music festivals around the globe.
He will also play two musical pieces as part of this special collaborative event between UMPI and U-Maine. Ticket cost is $5 at the door.

UMPI Gallery hosts reception
PRESQUE ISLE – A reception for the exhibition “Next to Nothing is Everything,” currently on display at the University of Maine at Presque Isle, will be held from 4 – 6 p.m. in the Reed Fine Art Gallery, Campus Center. The exhibit is a selection of minimalist prints and drawings from the collection of Bruce Brown, curator emeritus of the Center for Maine Contemporary Art in Rockport. It will be on display through Saturday, May 23. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For information, call Sandra Huck at 768-9611.
