To the editor:
Recently, the Aroostook County Republican Committee (ACRC) voted 17-7 to harshly condemn Sens. Snowe and Collins for thumbing their noses at the party platform and voting with newly-announced Democratic Senator and traitor Arlen Specter to give trillions in taxpayer money away to the international banking criminals that control our economy.
At that same meeting, they also passed (23-1) a resolution requesting that all elected Republicans oppose Sen. Damon's Gay Marriage Bill, and (24-0) a "Sound Money Resolution" designed to return our nation to a Constitutional currency and away from the bogus "Federal" "Reserve" System scam of debt-based fiat currency.
Two of those three resolutions were handed out for consideration at the Maine State Republican Committee (MSRC) April 25 meeting in Augusta. But sadly and oddly, the resolution condemning Snowe and Collins was missing from those packets. Additionally, the meeting was made a closed door session (open only to MSRC members) — a totally unprecedented act which was, I believe, designed specifically to keep grassroots Republicans from having the opportunity to express their displeasure against Snowe and Collins at the MSRC level.
To make matters worse, when these resolutions were finally brought up for discussion at the MSRC meeting after two hours of other business (which didn't amount to a hill of beans) the newly-elected Chairman (Charlie Webster of Farmington) chose to bring forward the Anti-Gay Marriage Resolution first, and then chose to recognize Stephen Scharf of the "Log Cabin Republican" group — a known Republican infiltration effort by radical homosexuals — first.
Scharf offered that the MSRC had no authority under our bylaws to consider any resolutions at all, and he was strangely (and very quickly) seconded by the liberal head of our/ "rules committee." Then, the next person that Webster recognized spoke about how his lesbian sisters are so poorly treated. None of the conservatives in the audience could speak until the momentum was clearly on the side not only of those pushing the gay agenda, but also on the side of Scharf's resolution to ban resolutions from being presented at the MSRC — even though other resolutions had passed in back to back months at MSRC meetings that he had attended.
When I finally got the chance to speak, I made it clear I had been sent with a 24-0 mandate from the Aroostook County Republican Committee members present at out April 18 meeting to make the ACRC's displeasure known with regard to our anti-Snowe/Collins Resolution being ignored by the MSRC. I said that if the MSRC decided that the counties and the Republican grassroots could not have an outlet for their opinions, then it was likely that the MSRC would lose members. I also said it was outrageous that we would spend an hour quibbling over $50,000 embezzled by a former Maine GOP bookkeeper (all of which will eventually be returned to us), but refused to discuss the embezzlement and outright theft of 16 million times that amount by the bankers which will never be returned to us and was only made possible by the perfidy of our two supposedly Republican senators.
Moments, later the Chairman sided with the Log Cabin Republicans, and said that he would not allow any resolutions to be heard by the MSRC. Basically, the opinion of the chair apparently is that the various counties are to "just shut up," and to "just send money."
I was never more ashamed to be a Republican in my life.
Fortunately, the South Berwick Republican Committee also voted 17-0 a few days ago to send a letter of condemnation directly to these two phonies, and other counties and towns are considering similar actions. Maybe those two will just join Specter and cross the aisle too. That would be better than pretending we Republicans have real Republicans at the top of our party, cause we don’t and haven’t for quite a long time. It's just a shame that the Maine GOP continues to put appearances over principle, and that our elected representatives feel they can shun the platform and the feelings of the people of their own party at will.
No wonder Republicans keep losing elections. Nothing will change until we clean out the closet Democrats that are running the Maine GOP, return to real conservative Republican principles, and begin insisting that our candidates and elected representative follow the platform.
