Isaac Botting, 18, of Island Falls and a junior at the Southern Aroostook Community School in Dyer Brook was arrested for the bomb threat at the school on March 13 according to Maine State Trooper, Timmy Saucier.
A written message had been discovered on March 13 and indicated that a bomb would go off on March 17 at the school.  School was cancelled on that Tuesday and Maine State police personnel and a bomb-sniffing dog were brought in to search the complex. No explosives were found.
Evidence collected by the investigative team led to the arrest of the student. He was taken to Aroostook County Jail where he was processed and released on bail.
Botting has been charged with two counts; the first, terrorizing, a Class C felony charge and the second, criminal mischief, a Class D misdemeanor charge.
Botting will be arraigned on May 14 at Houlton Superior Court. He is being tutored at home and at this time according to Superintendent Terry Comeau, discussion is ongoing regarding the status of Botting as a student at the school. A decision may be made at the April school board meeting.
Trooper Saucier said, “The investigation is still open and they are still gathering evidence.”
