Hodgdon log truck driver involved in fatality

Local log truck driver, Michael Parmigiani 44, of Hodgdon was involved in a fatal pedestrian crash in Lincoln, Monday afternoon. The accident took place on Route 2 near the town.
It appeared that 90-year-old Beulah Ireland looked westbound, but may not have looked in the direction of the tractor-trailer that was headed east. She walked into the path of the truck on her way to get her mail.
The driver tried to avoid her and pulled as far to the right as he could, but it was not enough. Lincoln Police Chief said that Parmigiani, who drives for Carver Trucking Inc. of Patten, was so distraught at the scene that he had to be taken by ambulance to the Penobscot Valley Hospital.
Route 2, also known as West Broadway, was shut down for about one hour before reopening one lane. A state police accident reconstruction team and commercial motor vehicle enforcement unit, and the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department are assisting Lincoln police.
Flagg said that it looks at this point, that the cause of the accident was inattention on the part of the pedestrian. He doubted that there would be any charges forthcoming.
