The Houlton Chamber of Commerce has announced their 2008 holiday decorating winners. Judges conducted tours throughout the town and into the country scouting out this year’s holiday entrants.

BEST WINDOW — The Dead River Company won the Best Window category for the 2009 Houlton Chamber of Commerce decorating competition. This year’s theme was Winter Wonderland.
Winning first place in the residential, traditional Christmas category was Julie Winslow, 14 Calais Road and the Martha Stewart would be proud award, Formann and Barbara Swallow on Highland Avenue.

MARTHA STEWART AWARD — Formann and Barbara Swallow received the Martha Stewart would be proud award for their tastefully decorated home on Highland Avenue.
In the business category, best windows, Dead River Company on Bangor Street. Best inside and outside decorating, York’s of Houlton. Business winners received plaques and homeowners received gift certificates and Chamber Bucks.

FIRST PLACE — Mary Harbison created this winning gingerbread display to win first place in the adult category of the Houlton Chamber of Commerce Gingerbread contest.

CLUB AWARD — The Houlton Haybaler’s 4-H Club won first place in the club competition in the Holiday Gingerbread contest sponsored by the Houlton Chamber of Commerce.

ROCK STAR WINS — Six-year old, Hollee Workman spent a lot of time designing her winning entry called Rock Star for the Children’s division of the Gingerbread Decorating Competition sponsored by the Houlton Chamber of Commerce.
