SOUTHINGTON, Conn. – Sonja Avril (Mitchell) Corliss, 70, passed away after a brief illness at Bristol Hospital, Bristol, Connecticut. She was born March 17, 1938, in Smyrna Mills, Maine and was the beloved daughter of the late George Forest Mitchell Sr. and Rosie May (Lindsey) Mitchell.
She was a graduate of Lee Academy in 1956 and retired from Pratt and Whitney in 1992. She loved crossword puzzles, watching the Red Socks win, and traveling and dining with her closest niece, Mavis McConnell. She will be fondly remembered by her extended family, friends, and relatives from Maine, Connecticut, Ohio and the Carolina's.
She is survived by her son, Brent Owen McDunnah and daughter-in-law, Deloris Joan McDunnah of Durham, N.C.; her son, Gregg Alan McDunnah and son-in-law, Wayne Richardson of Blythewood, S.C.; her daughter, Holly Gay Frantz and son-in-law, Richard Frantz of Piqua, Ohio; her daughter, Wendy May Watt and son-in-law, Steven Watt of Blythewood, S.C.; her daughter, Darcy Sue Corliss of Columbia, S.C.; her sister-in-law, Marjorie Mitchell; as well as 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Darrell Avon Mitchell and sister-in-law, Martha Mitchell; her brother, George Forest Mitchell Jr.; her sister, Beatrice Alice Bell and brother-in-law, Wesley Bell; her sister, Avis Isabel Sharp and brother-in-law, Thomas Sharp; and her sister, Yvonne Althea Russell; and brother-in-law, Walter Russell.
