    Hammond Plantation – Edna J. Luhrs, 92, died Dec. 24, 2008, at her residence. She was born July 4, 1916, at New York City, NY, the daughter of Carnot and Olga (Ohman) Egland.
    Edna was a member of the Bush Creek Brethren Church in Maryland. She worked for many years for Macy’s of New York and loved to cook for family and friends. After they retired, Edna and her husband George enjoyed traveling and sight seeing together.
    She is survived by her son, Robert Luhrs and his wife Alice of Hammond Plantation; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Luhrs of Raleigh, NC; five grandchildren, Michael Luhrs and his wife Machelle, Cynthia Luhrs, Tonya Youngfellow, Jennifer Luhrs, Daniel Luhrs and his wife Danielle; six great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George and her son, Lawrence Charles Luhrs.
    At Edna’s request there will be no visitation or service at this time. A graveside service will take place at the Linneus Cemetery in the spring. A service of Dunn Funeral Home, Houlton.
