Hodgdon High School holds JMG initiation and installation ceremony

     The Hodgdon High School Career Association held a Jobs for Maine's Graduates Initiation and Installation Ceremony Sept. 30. This ceremony is held annually at Hodgdon High School to install the new members of the JMG Career Association, as well as the newly elected JMG officers.

    The Jobs for Maine's Graduates program was established in 1993 by Maine's Legislature. The program is utilized in more than 50 school sites throughout more than 200 communities and currently serves more than 2,500 students in grades 7-12. This program teaches students skills essential for creating school-to-life pathways including oral and written communication, good work habits, personal influence, leadership skills, and job attainment and retention skills. The JMG program prepares high school seniors for the job market, and assists them in working with college and scholarship applications. The JMG Career Association takes several trips during the year, throughout the state where it participates in various leaders activities.
    Guests at the 2008 Initiation and Installation ceremony included Senator Roger Sherman, Representative Henry Joy, Representative Richard Cleary, Superintendent and Guest Speaker, Robert McDaniel, and Guidance Director, Bernadette Willette. The JMG students would like to thank each guest for their attendance at this special event.
    The newly elected JMG officers for the 2008-2009 school year are, Brianna Hanington, president; Dayna Tidd, vice president and public relations coordinator; Samantha Lycette, vice president and leadership development coordinator; Emmaly Jurson, community service coordinator; Amanda Ryan, career preparation coordinator; Jessica Garza, social awareness coordinator; Katelyn Duff, secretary; and Chelsea White, treasurer.
    Officers and new members were installed by pledging to carry out, to the best of their abilities, all of the duties and responsibilities of membership in the Jobs for Maine's Graduates Career Association, as well as agreeing to reflect honor upon the organization, maintaining high standards in both school and work activities.
    The JMG Career Association would like to thank everyone that attended the Initiation and Installation Ceremony, and hopes to have their continued support throughout the 2008-2009 school year!
